Until recently I have been running RadiusNT in debug mode. I have just
taken to starting it as a service when the machine starts.

It does not seem to want to authenticate when started in this way however.
If I stop the service and then restart it after boot time, it starts
authenticating.

Is it possible it is attempting to communicate with MS SQL dB before SQL
server has completed startup?

Is there some way of having RadiusNT retry the odbc connect if it does not
successfully connect the first time?

I'm attempting to setup MS SQL Server to use
with RadiusNT.

I've started the SQL service... went to the ODBC32
manager in Control Panel... added Radius as
a SQL database... as the RadiusNT instructions
outlined.

Whenever I run "radius -x15", it only loads 1 client
(when there are actually about 14 clients).

If I set it up as an Access 97 database in the ODBC
manager, it loads all 14 clients with "radius -x15"...
and RadiusNT works.

What am I overlooking?

Hi

I have a PM3. It works very well in Radius 2.5 but the RRAS of the Internet
option pack does not update the calls table. The error message is 1053.
Index or primary key can't contain a Null value. I have already changed the
name of Attribute #4 from NAS-IP-Address to NAS-Identifier in the
RadAttributes table but this does not work either. When I use Microsoft's
Radius both the PM3 and the RRAS work. What could be some other options
that I could try to resolve this problem? Thanks for your time.

We're running the same setup. Go into your Calls table, in design view and
put in a default value of 9999. This should stop the error. Also in your
Servers table, make sure there is an entry for "localhost" with an IP
address of 127.0.0.1 and a password of secret.

We offer annual accounts and we put records into our data base with an
expiry date in the year 2000, should this prove to be a problem ?

I know this is probably a very basic question, but..

Can someone please explain how to go about converting ourRadiusNT Access97 database to a SQL database? Will westill be able to use our Access97 forms?

Or, give me some pointers on this one... is their a website that documents this process? ...or a utility that does this?

You need the Access upsizing tool. You may already have it. Check in theTools->Add-Ins menu. Look for something called "Upsize to SQL". If youdon't have it, let me know and I can send it to you.

Dale, We've recently installed RadiusNT 2.5 on our backup Radius server, stillrunning 2.2 on the primary. Users are signing on (mostly) ok. Checking Radlogs (and populating RadLogMsg per your previous message), Iget the occasional user error. However, the table is also getting 1 entryper minute from each of our Maxes that basically says the Max itself triedto login and failed (user not found). The Radlog entry looks like this:

10 Jun 15 1998 7:57PM pools-Max2.ilnk.comascend (null) (null)(null)

Max2.ilnk.com is the name of the 4004. I see them go by in -x15 mode, aswell, but I don't know what's causing it. We've upgraded the Max to 6.1.0+recently and have been advised by Ascend that it has an IP Pool leak thatthey hope to fix soon, but I don't know if that's related or not. Does this make any sense to you at all? Any known issues with Ascend 6.1.0+(the first release with v.90)?

In addition, I seem to get little bubbles of unsuccessful logins. Duringthe day, suddenly for about 15 minutes it seems everybody is getting a LANSECURITY ERROR and being rejected and then 15 minutes later, everybody getsin just fine with no changes anywhere. Most of the rejects don't show up inthe Radius Logs (either the logfile on disk or the Radlogs table in Emerald)at all, so the Max may just be rejecting them outright, but I don't know whyit would do that (I've got excess IP Pools allocated so that the Maxshouldn't be out of IP addresses and did a Show Pool to verify that I had atleast SOME available IP addresses).

Thanks for any help.

This is a standard behavior from a Max (usually when you reboot or reseta config). Check the MAX documentation on how to turn this off. Itwas recently posted here on the list as well (check the archives).

You would have to run RadiusNT in -x15 to really see whats going on during thattime. I would guess you are having a SQL Server issue where RadiusNT getshung or held up by another task (like someone doing an intense query on yoursql server, or deleting records from the calls table). The dual threadoperation of RadiusNT 2.5 should help the later, but you may need to profileyour SQL Server (performance monitor) and try and track down who/what is happening.

USR NAS support it.. I tried with two channels as suggested, and it worksfine, each channel seems to be treated individually. My problem now is howdo I automate it under radius NT? Basically I would like to offer rubberbandwidth and allow the addition of a third link to two permanents for a setamount of time. The two permanents should stay up all the time..

So.. I guess I need some kind of conditional script that will allow zerosession time out for the first two channels and a 3 hour timeout for thethird..

Thanks..

Andrew.
