I would be Interested in any responses you receive with this Issue. I have
the Same
problem here.

I am running NT4.0 with IIS 4 and my users pages that contain .mid files for
background music on their pages play fine with Internet Explorer but will
not play with Netscape Navigator. The exact same files loaded on another
provider play with both browsers. Does anyone have a suggestion to what
might be wrong. Maybe an IIS setting?

Okay. The <EMBED> tag will work with either browser, but you need to have
the mime type set for IIS to handle it properly (for some reason in NS4
setting the type in the HTML doesn't work). What you need to do is in the
properties for the web you wish to enable it for go into document types,
and there will be a button for adding MIME types. Add the ext. .mid and
..midi with an application type of audio/x-midi. This will correct the
problem.

Hope this helps!

In IIS4's Management Console, right-click on your servername under Console
Root / Internet Info Server and choose Properties.
Click on the File Types button.
If the following don't exist add them:
Extension: mid
Mime: audio/x-midi
and
Extension: midi
Mime: audio/x-midi

I don't remember if you have to stop/restart IIS or not.

Dears,

Could somebody give me a tip...
We have several customers to our gateway via ethernet...
For those paying for traffic - no problem
But there are some customers who want to pay for each hour they use the
terminals
The terminals are used for playing games too. So does anybody know a simple
solution to track each time somebody uses the machines and track the usage
data to a database for accounting (hourly for each usage and monthly for
statistics) ???

We are currently working on a project, and I have a question for you all. I
am wanting to use various ISP's as hosts for my service. I need a way to
have my customers dial-in to the host ISP's existing term servers, and then
have the term server point the customer to a specific gateway where my
server is located. In other words, they can utilize the same dial-up number
but have two servers offering two different types of service. I beleive
this is similar to what Earthlink, AOL, all the big boys do. Any help would
be great !!

You may want to check out VPRRS (Vircom's Proxy and Roaming Radius
Server)...

You can authenticate against multiple sources and other radius servers..
(username@domain1.com and username@domain2.com, etc.)...

http://www.vircom.com for that stuff. I use it and I'm VERY pleased with
it, and their email server.

Use any ISP that has VPN or PPTP capabilities and they should be able to help you....

VPN and PPTP would be too indepth to really discuss via Email!! Several
books are out on the subject....

However, basically......

VPN can be setup to look at the called number, and according to that called
number route all authentication request to your radius server(s). It can
also be used to tunnel a user to a signup server or any other "private
network" and will not allow them to go anyplace else.

Compaq has a good white paper at:
