Make sure you add the following lines to your serv-u.ini file (at the
bottom):
[EXTERNAL]
ClientCheckDLL1=c:\Program Files\Emerald\Emerauth.dll

Change the path if you need to...
Restart Serv-U.

Whoever Serv-U runs as (service) needs at least "change" permissions to the
directories containing the user's files.
