It's a separate instance of named running. It's not the same server that your normal users would use. Basically, I have a second Ethernet card in each of my servers, so I set up another named process to listen on the IP on that card. Then I run a crossed Ethernet cable to my NAS device so it can route to it.

As for the RadATConfigs: (minus the RadATConfig, RadVendorID, RadVendorType and RadCheck)

AccountType RadAttributeID Data Value
----------- -------------- ---------------------- ----- Special 7 1 1 Special 137 1 Special 135 192.168.1.1 0 Special 218 1 10 Special 206 PPP;Connect via PPP 0 Special 206 SLIP;Connect via SLIP 0

The only part that is different from my normal config are Attribute 135 and 218.

135 just sets their DNS server to 192.168.1.1 as opposed to the normal DNS server assigned by the NAS.

218 is normally set to 0 (MaxTNT NAS) to use the global pool of IP's, but in this case I want an IP assigned out of pool 10, which has 192.168.1.2 - 32.

Management didn't like it when I called the group "Deadbeat", so now they are Special "L"ocal Users (Lusers).

So this is a separate DNS server or a record in an existing DNS server used for other domains ?

What about the RadATConfig table in RadiusNT ?

Mike
