The naming agency for the commercial .uk naming space is Nominet -

A good page for DNS and whois in the UK is

Subject: [NTISP] non-InterNIC whois queries

This may be a pretty stupid question, but how do you run whois queries
for a
domain like:
something.co.uk
I've tried all sorts of stuff with RIPE, but the closest I can come is
getting info on co.uk:
whois -h whois.ripe.net co.uk

I've been to http://www.ripe.net/db/whois.html (same as "whois -h
whois.ripe.net") and also http://www.ripe.net/docs/ripe-157.html#toc18
(help
for whois using RIPE) and haven't found a single example on how to do
the
query.

I use whois for InterNIC-maintained domains all the time, but can't get
anywhere with the other ISO-3166 country codes.
