I found that some mail servers support SMTP authentication. Using this
type of authentication, the sender needs to know a valid username and a
password to be able to send out mail through that mail server.
I would like to know if anyone of you has already used it and how it works.
In particular I would like to know:
- if it works with all the most popular mail clients (Outlook Express,
Eudora, Netscape Mail);
- if the mail client needs to be configured in a particular way or if it
will simply be prompted for an username and a password via the same dialog
box it uses to get POP3 mail.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
