I missed some of this thread. Is the issue is that version 7 reports won't
work? They can, but it takes some minor tinkering:

>From a machine where CR 7 is fully installed and operational, locate the
following two files in the \windows\system (\windows\system32 for NT)
directory:

crpaig32.dll
crpe32.dll

Copy these files to the corresponding directory on any machine where Emerald
will be installed. Those machines will then be able to work with CR7
reports. I just today tested this with some newly developed reports and it
worked beautifully. Keep in mind that this must be repeated if you
reinstall Emerald or do anything else that might overwrite those DLLs. It
would be best to keep a copies of those two files stashed in a subdirectory
somewhere for later use.

The fact that version 7 reports don't work with Emerald is not an error on
the part of IEA. Emerald was created using development tools that included
version 5 or version 6 (I forget which) runtime libraries. Either of these
versions can still be obtained for developing reports. You just happened to
buy version 7, as did I. The difference was that I was forewarned that the
reports wouldn't work without some voodoo. Frankly, I'd just as soon use
CR7.
