I was told that there are some issues with SQL 7.0 and Emerald security. I
believe that SQL 7.0 "broke" the way that emerald deals with groups in
emerald. Is this true?

I would recommend to any larger site to move to SQL 7. They addressed
several major shortcomins of SQL 6.5. I've seen installs go from 20
hours of processing down to 20 mins of processing for consolidation
after upgrading to SQL 7 (with no other changes).
