[Emerald] Users not able to logon

I have two users now who have been unable to log in with their chosen
username, when they had been able to before. When I delete their account
and re-add them with the same name I am still not able to log in. I am
forced to create a subaccount with another username and password and I tell
them to dial up with that one and they can dial up with no problem.
