I am trying to route 203.35.149.128 netmask 255.255.255.192 (62 hosts)
through USR Total Control using radius I have added to the users radius
profile the following command

Framed-Route 203.35.149.128/26 203.35.6.5 1

when I do an external traceroute the route disapears at 203.35.6.5 our TC
box is there another procedure or radius command I should also use, can
anybody help me with this one.

here are the results

Traceroute

Result for 203.35.149.129:

Probably not much. I'd guess you could collect a years worth of data in only a
couple of megs space in your DB (assuming you don't have 30-40 locations
defined).

Its not ran on a NAS. Each NAS that you configure in the Emerald Admin has a
location field. The script groups them by location. You should refine
your locations for each NAS to get exactly like all the others. I typically
associate a location with a hunt group. The script will them tell you how
many lines of each hunt group are in use. It can easily be aumated by
running it in SQL Task Manager. I would make a stored procedure called
DoOnlineCount and put the insert statement into there. Then I would
just call the DoOnlineCount proc from the task manager.

We actually do a lot of data collection this way for statistical analysis.
We've written many extended procedures for SQL Server that do things like
gather SNMP information (similiar to what MRTG does), look at network
utilization, etc. Once you have the information in the database, its
trivial to report on.

It looks like you have set up the route properly but that the equipment atthe other end of the line doesn't know that it's supposed to be handling thesubnet range.

On our TC we give the customer a static IP (Framed-Address 1.2.3.4), then weset the subnet to route to this address (Framed-Route 203.35.149.128/261.2.3.4 1) and all goes well.

You need to route that subnet to your TC on your border routers, but onthe TC itself, you route the subnet to the next hop, not the TC itself.

For example, we use un-numbered WAN interfaces on some ISDN stuff (NTRAS can't do this) and assign the lowest number of the subnet as the IPof the ISDN TA's ethernet. The RadiusNT entry looks like this:

user Password = "Blah" User-Service = Framed-User, Framed-Protocol = PPP, Framed-Address = 203.35.149.130, Framed-Route = "203.35.149.128/26 203.35.149.130 1"

When the user gets dialed in, the TC knows thier IP is 203.35.149.30.It also dynamically adds the route to the subnet via the above IP. Whenthe user hands up, its all gone. Remember, you'll get a loop between theTC and your border router when the connection isn't up.

PS, everyone needs to make sure they are posting to the @iea-software.comdomain and NOT the @emerald.iea.com domain. Starting next week we will besending an auto-responder to everyone who is sending to the @emerald.iea.comdomain, so update your address book now and save your the trouble later.

I have just upgraded the firmware on our Netserver/8i from rev 3.2.5.3 torev 4.0.14 authentication with RadiusNT 2.1.5 no longer works!

If I create a local user account on NAS, it authenticates fine andaccounting records are created by Radius NT without problem.

But if I try to get RadiusNT (ODBC / MS SQL Server 6.5) to authenticate...

RadiusNT displays 'Malformed Packet' messages. Any ideas?

Which 'malformed packet' message are you getting, that might have madeit easier for us to take a guess at the problem. We found that theNetserver Plus was sending a larger than normal session ID, and as aresult, the field wasn't large enough and the record was rejected. Thismay be your problem.

I'm trying to configure a Lantronixs LSR16 to use RadiusNT. There areobviously problems however the screen scrolls when using "radius -x15" soit's impossible for me to read the error messages.

How do you obtain a text file log of the output?

With RadiusNT 2.5, define a logfile in the admin. You can also definean AcctLogFile in the registry if you want to split the accounting andauthentication (which might make it easier to follow).

You can always hit the Pause key to stop the scroll as well. :)Enter will let it continue.

Check which version of RadiusNT you are running. 2.1.5 doesn'texist. RadiusNT 2.5.124 and higher default to allowing the 0 lengthmalformed packet problem. The others it still doesn't allow. If youuse "radius -x15 -X" in the foreground, RadiusNT will dump the packet. If you send that dump to me, I'll tell you why the packet ismalformed.

If I remember right, the USR uses a different numbering for the ISDN.Therefore, you will need to add additional Ports for the Server inthe Emerald Admin. You can run RadiusNT in -x15 debug mode to seewhat the numbers for the ISDN is.

Hi,

I am having trouble getting the above to work with RadiusNT.

The password is all garbage but the secrets are correctly specified.

The NAS-Identifier keeps coming up as 99.111.109.115 notwithstanding I haveentered comserv2 as the NAS name.

What can be the cause of this?

Malformed packet problem gone away now...

Sorry, bad hair day. I should *never* have believed 3Com when they said toupgrade firmware on Netserver from v3.2.5.3 to v4.1.7

I am happy RadiusNT is performing ok, so my bleating is inappropriate forthis list. If there are any Netserver saavy people subscribed I wouldappreciate a private email. I have been off the air for 8 hours now, anyany clues would be appreciated.

NAS no longer authenticates using Radius but ok with local. I see radiusdebug of

Sending Ack of id 7 to cb621a82 (akl-netserv1.2day.net.nz)

User-Service = Framed-User Framed-Protocol = PPP Framed-Compression = Van-Jacobsen-TCP-IP

Resp Time: 491 Auth 2/0 -> 2 Acct: 0/0/0 -> 0

Win95 client gets error "Dailup networking could not negotiate a compatibleset of network protocols ..."

It also appears the NAS wont accept framed-address settings for specified IPaddresses on other user profiles (just as serious problem!)

This could be an issue with IP Addresses. Using the latest RadiusNT,go into the Admin and choose your primary IP address from the list.Does the USR have any kind of debug to see what the issue is? Itlooks like RadiusNT is working fine.
