about?!

Thank you - I will try this for the meantime, at least until I can ditch the
NT server and replace it with a FreeBSD one. I'm totally fed up with MS
products not working they way they should, or at least being so
unpredictable.

> Also, why are you using war-ftp daemon? (someone likes tucows :) ).

Because the FTP Server side of IIS is so basic its unbelievable. There are
many fundamental things missing that War FTP daemon supports with ease.

> Did your files at least show a 0 byte size?

No, they literally vanished (were deleted). I had the web browser open on
the page, uploaded the index file, received an error message from the ftp
client about permission problems and within 10 seconds the file visibly
vanished from the Windows Explorer window I had open.

That's scarey.

Cheers for your advice.

I am considering replacing some analog modems with USR MP8I or 16I.

I would like some comments from owners of these units.

They work great. Unfortunately, you will find they are usually moreexpensive than a Netserver which includes the modems and the term server inone unit. Go figure.

Actually, using MPs and a Livingston is a far superior solution than using aNetserver. IMO.

The new netservers have not caught up to the quality of the Livingston OSused in the older Netservers.

We have NT4 (SP3) and IIS4 on a machine running about 30 sites.

I have added more IPs to the NIC and that went fine. Now I want to set upthe sites using the management console. The problem is that it will not showabout 20 IPs that I have bound to the nic. The IPs are pingable but themanagement console does not see them..

What would cause this?

Just type in the IP manually and it'll work fine. IIS4 only displays a fewof what are actually associated with the NIC.

Hi- Can anyone recommend any good scandisk tools for NT? I've got sometroubles on one of my machines that cannot be fixed by the built-in chkdskprogram. One old file in a web dir refuses to be deleted, even with allwww/ftp services shut down. It returns "the file or directory is corrupt &unreadable, run the chkdsk utility". Half of my recycle bin also reportsthe same. Upon the next boot. Chkdsk runs and completes without findingany errors & the cycle continues...
