Hi
Thanx for you responses, but...

The posts are getting added to the tocproto.htm file in the _disc# dir but
not to the toc.htm file! Posts were getting added to the toc.htm file I
see, but suddenly that stopped. In fact, the toc.htm file doesn't even
show up in the FP Explorer as being part of the web (the tocproto.htm does
show up).

I'm using 1706. Just checked on the MS site. This seems to be the latest.
I also checked the permissions in Explorer for the relevant dirs and
files. Everything there seems fine. Should I perhaps import the toc.htm
file into the web? Will that help?

Subject: BOOTING WITH A RAID 5

Hi -
We are about to implement RAID 5 on a new NT Server.
It has however, come to our attention that if the
boot drive is included in the RAID 5 PARITY SET,
the server will no longer boot. The argument is having
the boot drive C:\ set-up with RAID 1 mirroring to another
drive and the remaining drives set with RAID 5.
This doesn't sound correct to me. Could someone with
RAID implementation experience please clarify this
argument.
O/S NT SERVER 4.0
Thanks in advance for your reply's.
Best Regards

This is true with the software RAID built into NT. If you use hardware
RAID, you can install NT on a RAID 5 array and it won't even know it.
Our RAID 5 array is configured as a single logical drive, which appears
to NT as a single large disk, which we broke up into several NTFS
partitions.

I'm curious about the reasoning behind setting up different partitions; whatprompted you to do that? How is having different partitions affecting theperformance (ie the physical head movements of the disks)?
On a side note, using a hardware RAID, does anyone have benchmarks betweenthe performance of a RAID 5 and a RAID 10 (1 + 0)?

Hi,
Today I played a bit with IIS4 and the Frontpage 98server extensions. I upgraded the server extensionsto the latest version available on the web but I have comeinto the following difficulties:
Creating a frontpage web for a virtual web server on IIS4seems to only work correctly when using the frontpage serveradministrator and not when enabling "frontpage web" in the IIS4management console under "directory properties"?
Another problem I saw was that only the frontpage administrator enteredat the creation of a frontpage web through the frontpage server administratorseems to be able to administrate and change the web site using the frontpage98 client. Trying to add another user to the administration list of afrontpageweb can be done without any error using the frontpage server administrator butthis user isn't accepted when trying to publish a web site using theFP98 client. The ACL permissions seem to be correct.
Any tips,
Thanks,Christian

Have you looked at the directory permissions for the actual directoryafter you add the user in FrontPage Administrator? You should see the userlisted with special access permissions. Also, another tip that might helpyou is one that I found digging around on the microsoft site. There aresome optimal permissions for the directory that you want to installFrontpage extensions on. Here they are:
Administrator: Full ControlAdministrators: Full ControlSystem: Full ControlNetwork: ChangeInteractive: Change
Hope it helps a little bit.On Fri, 26 Jun 1998, Christian Schmit wrote:
