INTRODUCING RADIUSNT 2.5!

IEA Software is proud to announce the official release of RadiusNT
Version 2.5. In addition to the RadiusNT Standard, we are also
pleased to introduce RadiusNT ENTERPRISE Edition.

All editions of RadiusNT 2.5 include the following new enhancements:

* Dual thread design separates authentication and accounting
processes, improving performance.

* Debugging information can be logged to a file while RadiusNT is
running as a service under Windows NT.

* Spaces can be trimmed from both the front and rear of user names for
authentication and accounting.

* Trims a "domain\" entry from DUN authentication attempts against a
users file, or

* When authenticating against the NT SAM, uses the "domain\" section
to find the correct domain in which to authenticate.

* RadiusNT Administrator's users and clients file editing options have
been added.

* Promiscuous mode has been added to allow requests from any client
with the correct global secret.

* Documentation has been updated to include common problems and
frequently asked questions.

The following ODBC features have been enhanced:

* Separate ODBC DSN settings are allowed for the authentication and
accounting threads (as well as debug log files).

* New advanced Server/Port Access controls, including time of day
restrictions.

* ODBC Support for Sybase and Oracle SQL databases has been added.

* DNIS based authentication restrictions.

* Now supports the use of stored procedures with SQL Server for
enhanced flexibility and more configuration of database behavior.

* Improved Manual Update for Concurrency control for out of order
accounting packets.

Subject: Cold Fusion and IIS 4.0
From: "Victor A." <victor@webjogger.net>
Date: Sat, 30 May 1998 11:10:14 -0400

This is definitively not my day, I hope someone could help me on this one,
here is the combination of problems I'm having:

1) User was receiving information via his online form without any problems
until yesterday at 6:00 when all of a sudden he stopped receiving messages.
I've tested it myself and it's true CF display the message indicating the
form was submitted successfully. But the user gets nothing. I've changed
the e-mail addresses in the TO field, no success, who knows where is the
form going?

2) Anybody clicking on the enroll button in the following link
http://www.copeinc.com/bootcamp.html can realize what's going on. The form
is there but for some reason just don't want to work, again it was working
as of 2 days ago. I've deleted it, copied it over, recreate it, triple
checked the code..... still same error. Any suggestions

3) After upgrading to IIS 4.0 now I can't bring up the Cold Fusion
Administrator page, when I try to open it IE looks for the address
http://127.0.0.1/cfide..etc... and displays the error "could not connect
with server" how do I access the admin form now? What on earth has
changed?

I hope any one out there feels compassionate today as to be able to give
some help I've done all kinds of things and nothing has worked.

Thanks in advance.

Victor

Victor, I assume that upgrading to IIS 4.0 changes all your ODBC versions. You will probably need to reinstall Cold Fusion again.

Which version of CF? and before IIS4 upgrade?

ODBC drivers? Did you load the ones with IIS4? and then go to the control
panel to see if your entries were still there?

assuming the /cfdocs and /cfide are off the ./wwwroot

I had to change the shortcut line for the CFADMIN and CFDOCS icons on my
desktop to put in the actual IP of what I have in the default web site
entry in the MMC rather than the localhost one. Someone else said that
adding the 127.0.0.1 with a host header of localhost worked for him. It
didn't for me.

Once I did that I could run the test installation and check out the
install. I had upgraded to CF 3.1.1 at the same time.

My thoughts on servers for an ISP. I just built a brand new PDC for my
service. Here's the specs and what I think of it:

I only use Intel motherboards due to innumerable tech support and RMA
problems with other manufacturers.
Intel Redwood motherboard
- on board video and Adaptec AHA 2940 controller
dual PII/300 cpu's
256 MB SDRAM
2 IBM 9GB Ultrastar SCSI harddrives (the best and fastest SCSI drive I
have seen yet)
NT 4.0
Post.Office 3.x
RadiusNT 2.x
Bind for NT DNS server
IIS 4.0 web and ftp server

This system absolutely screams. It has a typical CPU utilization of 10%
and the memory utilization hovers at about 100 MB. Everything is extremely
stable. The Intel Redwood board supports SNMP Lan management with an
additional ISA card, which I will be adding shortly. This will allow me to
remotely monitor, shut down, and/or reboot the machine.

When you are building a production server which will be up 24/7 and it is
critical that your customers be able to access it, or you lose business,
spend the money for the best. Doing it on a shoestring pretty well assures
you of problems which will cost you business.

Hi all,

I'm in the same boat, kinda...

I'm in the process of starting an ISP. Got some of the equipment on hand,
and I now need to build a server or two. So what do you recommend for a
motherboard? I have heard good things about the ASUS and TYAN brands, are
there any other good ones?

What about hard drives? I will get SCSI and Adaptec 2940 controllers, but
I have no idea about the drives themselves. Personally I like Maxtor since
my two old 850Mb drives have been chugging along for years without a
hickup, while two Western 2.1Gb died on me.

Anything else I should look for? Which part of a server tend to break?
Where can I save money, and where should I go first class?

Thanks

Otto

Are there any ideas on how to configure index server to be used with the
searches in Frontpage? I really have not found the documentation on
Microsofts site helpful.

If you are running Index Server on the webserver machine, the search
function in Front Page will use that for it's search reuslts. If Index is
not running, then it uses the WAIS search engine built into the FP extensions.

Are there any special configurations that I need for index server. If a
search is used it always returns an error message. Furthermore, I signed
up for Microsofts Front Page Providers program. They preformed a test on
my Frontpage extensions and replied that the index server was not
configured and the search did not work. They, of course, could not be more
specific. Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks, Ethan
