I have a brand new installation up and running. I have the Master and
Emerald DB dump every night so I have a BU of it.
What else should i be doing? Are there scripts I should be running, any
maintenance?
Looking for your suggestions.

Ascend thoroughly tests it's code before release. they allow beta releases
with strict instructions not to use it on a production machine. I have
never had problems with getting help from ascend. If anything, I have had
more problems with USR and finding upgrades for their modems (if an upgrade
exists).

What can you do about a company that continually looses every battle to
smaller companies who care more about the industry.

Not my fault you can't deal with so many options. Having the options of an
Ascend is what give me the flexibility I need to change out my gear with
little or no interruptions in service.

That's funny. I have a few Total Controls and I have had NO problems with
them.. Two of them are in
remote cities and they have not given me a minutes trouble. I also like
having the room to support up
to 336 v.90/ISDN calls per chassis which I don't believe any of the other
chassis are doing at this time.
As for the $2k per year for a service contract, I do not have a 3Com
service contract. My service contract
is through Source Technology (www.source-technology.com) and they provide
awesome support for these
boxes.

I am currently running the beta code on the HyperDSP (1.2.2) and the
release code on the HyperARP
(4.0.29) and both are working flawless with Emerald and RadiusNT thanks to
Jeff Binkley's extra attributes. :)
These are actually some very nice NAS. Granted, there are things that need
to be worked on, but if there
was a company out there that had 100% compatability and 0 complaints then
all of the others would be out
of business. I for one do not see that happening in the near future.

What kind of SQL statement would one use to add charges to an account? And.
is there a way to make it so that it's a credit card, not and invoice? I
need to add the ability to tack on Setup Fees for Online Signup.

Oh? Anyone find my ASP IEAK Signup useful?

Thanks, Billy Huddleston.

Just add an entry in the Charges table for the MBR's CustomerID.
Emerald will add it as a line item to the next invoice for the
customer. How it gets billed/paid is dependant upson how the
customer is configured to be billed.

I typically recommend running a "dbcc CheckDB(Emerald)" once a week via SQLEM (scheduled Tasks). Don't schedule these to happen in thenormal time frame the dump is going on, though. :)

With Josh Hillmans help I now have my Ascend MAX 400x sending Terminatecause messages that will show up in Emerald. The only problem I have is thatin the Time On tab most of the messages show up as numeric, instead of text, but a few show up as text. I'm guessing there's a lookup table that has values for the numerics thatturn them into text, but I can't find it to add the entries Ascend uses.

Where do I update that table so that 185 becomes, for example, "Remote EndHung Up"?

Thanks for your help.

Were do I get the info for the ItemID? The numbers don't look consecutive..Or is that left blank and Emerald will fill it in when it process invoicesand such?

Leave it blank. Once Emerald has processed the charge and put it intoan Invoice Line Item, the ItemID will be put it to note which InvoiceLine Item (and indirectly which invoice) the charge was applied on.

We've succesfully transfered our database to the new machine. We'veinstalled RadiusNT 2.5 and tested Authentication and Accounting accordingto the RadiusNT documentation. Authentication seems to be working ok. Butwhen we do a:

c:\radius\Radlogin UserName START

At the prompt I can see: Auth 0/0 Acct 0/0 T/O:1 Good 0 Bad 0

Emerald displays this error: "Runtime error 30009 Invalid Row Value" andclose itself down.

I think I'm getting real close :-) what do I need to check now..?

Dale, Can I run this from Enterprise Manager? Is this documented someplace?

The RFC standard includes definitions for about 20 or so of the lowernumbers to messages. The rest are Ascend specific, and its possiblethat Ascend is not using the RFC stated numbers. > Where do I update that table so that 185 becomes, for example, "Remote End> Hung Up"?

YOu can't. I'll look into an option like this for a future release, though.

You can use Enterprise Manager to configure SQL Executive to run it.SQL Executive is a seperate program that runs along side of SQL Server. It can do many things like restart SQL Server if it dies, run all sortsof scheduled task, etc.

In Enterprise Manager, Select "Manage Scheduled Tasks". Click on New task. The type is TSQL. Enter "DBCC CheckDB(Emerald)" as the TSQL statement and Master as the database (it doens't actually matter). Then change the frequency to weekly on Sunday at say 3am. You haveto make sure SQL Executive is running and starts automatically as well.
