At present it would be pretty challenging to run Emerald against
anything except MS SQL Server, since Emerald uses the native DB-LIB
interface (which I really doubt mySQL does). The v3 release of
Emerald will work against other databases than MS and will be
ODBC compatable. On a true comaparison of database systems,
SQL Server holds its own against sybase and Oracle. I'm sure
its possible to trim a lot of the features to get better
speed, but do you really want to run your mission critical
applications on that kind of a database system?
