intermittent non pick up of calls

Has anyone run into the situation when all of a sudden one of your modems
doesn't recognize a call. It just started happening and isn't isolated to
one particular modem. At first I just reset the modem and that cleared up
the problem but this morning I had to resort to rebooting the portmaster.
We have made NO changes to the configuration of the portmaster or the
ports.
Anyone have any ideas ????
