Can't you just put the database in a directory that isn't accessible from your
web or ftp site, connect to it using ODBC and ODBC manager, which will provide
the path to the database for you?

Is there a way in which one can set up a databse for the web in such
a way that people accessing the database can't download the db onto
their computers? It sounds like a bit of a ridiculous question, but
I've previously seen answers to things I thought were not possible
:-)

(Software to be used: either IIS's IDC or Cold Fusion)
