Brad,

Let's say I have a customer to which I want to route a six-host subnet via
the Total Control. Here's how I do it...

1) Assign the customer a single static IP address as you normally would in
Emerald.
2) Add a route statement in the Total Control.
3) Add a route statement in your Internet router.

For this example, the TC HiperARC or Netserver's address is 192.168.1.4 with
a mask of 255.255.255.0 and we will route 192.168.2.248 with a mask of
255.255.255.248

1) Assign the customer 192.168.1.200/255.255.255.255
2) In the TC console, type this statement:
ADD IP ROUTE 192.168.2.248/29 GATEWAY 192.168.1.200
3) In your Internet Router (mine's a Cisco), type the following statement:
IP ROUTE 192.168.2.248 255.255.255.248 192.168.1.4

This works! I use it all the time. However, if the customer complains that
they are not able to get out, or they cannot be reached from the outside
world, then you will need to disconnect the user, delete the TC's static
route for their subnet, and add it in again...

DISCONNECT USER username
DELETE IP ROUTE 192.168.2.248/29
ADD IP ROUTE 192.168.2.248/29 GATEWAY 192.168.1.200

That fixes the problem, and the customer is not as pi$$ed off as he was a
minute ago. I don't understand why this happens, nor do I understand which
side of the connection causes the problem... but it DOES happen.

If anyone knows of a better way to do this, please provide some insight. :-)
