Their intended for mapping different vendor specific attributes to a
common attribute so they all appear the same in the calls table... For
example:

NAS 1 is GooseServer. It logs CallerID information to a vendor specific
attribute named Goose-CallerID.

NAS 2 is a TreeComm. It logs CallerID to Tree-CallerID.

If you had the AliasAttributeID and AliasVendorID configured for these
attributes to point at the standard CallerID attribute, when Call
records are being added Goose-CallerID and Tree-CallerID are mapped to the
'CallerID' column in the Calls table.
