You shouldn't need to delete the service. Every MBR has a BILL DAY. This is the day the original MBR picked as the alignment day for all services on the MBR. When you add a new service or reopen a service, it will pro-rate (if needed) the service billed thru date to be aligned on the same day as the MBR (and all services, unless someone changes a date manually).

Without the pro-rate/alignment, you would get your services on different cycles (one on the 1st and one on the 12th) which would cause some really messed up invoices/statements. If there is only one service on the MBR, this probably isn't that evident. Something to try in that case would be to close the MBR, change the service info, the re-open the MBR. This changes and bill day and would prevent the pro-rate alignment.
