Paul Wren of software.com did come through and arranged for software.com support to provide some sample perl scripts. They clearly are no way as powerful as a true API that is accessible by Perl, but they will work to cover some of the issues we want to address.
My point though, is- a thank you and recognition to Paul who reacted in a positive way and got some reasonable support to take place, and thanks to software.com for providing it.
I wish that successful software product companies like software.com were more willing to help their paid-up/registered customers than they are. But I guess this is one of the benefits of mailing lists such as this.
