This was sent to me some time ago after I vented on the Software.com CEO.

Please note, the bug in the OutLook clients has been fixed by Microsoft,
and is available in IE/Outlook 5.0 beta 2 (or higher). It would indeed be
best to use the updated mail clients, as opposed to the workaround
described below.

To implement the workaround, you will first need to confirm that you are
running Post.Office 3.5.3, the latest release of our software. Once you
have done so, you may implement the workaround as follows.

As a workaround for an Outlook Express bug, which occurs when Outlook
Express encounters a message which contains a line with only a single
period ".", you may wish to force Post.Office to modify the body of the
message to eliminate the occurence of this character string.

Note: The policy of Post.Office is to NEVER modify the body of a message.
If you choose to implement this workaround, you are forcing Post.Office to
modify message bodies. This modification could potentially cause corruption
of message attachments.

This will only work with Post.Office 3.5.3. If you do not have this
version, you can download it from our web site.

The workaround is as follows:

1. Open regedt32

2. Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Software.com/Post.Office/POP3-Server/Config

3. AddValue - Value Name: UseSingleDotRepl
Data Type: REG_MULTI_SZ
Data: yes
(In the Multi-String Editor window, type the word "yes" (without quotes).)

4. Stop and Restart the Post.Office MTA service
