If I remember correctly, Steve's problem is the new dual processor setup.
I've never been able to successfully install the original HD that was setup
on a single CPU system to a Dual CPU system. Had to do a complete
re-install.

Just my .02

Dear Steve,
One way would be to use the program ghost, which can basically copy an
entire hard drive to another one. Trial versions are available from
Symantec.

Subject: [NTISP] Replacing an NT Server

We have a NT server running IIS 4.0. It works great. However, we would
like to upgrade the system to something a little faster with more drive
space. We have a completely new server ready to go. How can we migrate all
of the data, and more importantly all of the settings from the previous
server? I tried removing the hard drive from the old server and installing
it in the new server. NT would crash with a blue screen upon bootup. I
thought NT was supposed to detect hardware upon bootup and work with just
about anything. Both servers have the same network card, same video card,
and same SCSI controller. Therefore any devices that need a specific device
driver for NT are the same in both servers. The only real difference is the
new server is a dual processor.

I can't afford to loose all the IIS settings. I don't want to have to
reinstall the 100+ virtual servers installed, and I don't want to have to re
setup all the special permissions on some of the directories for IIS.

Recommendations?

Thanks,

Steve Coleman
