The older 2.5 database did not allow for nulls in the expiredate, which
causes problems when placing an account inactive. We have to manually put a
date in before we can save the record. I have upgraded to SQL 7.0. Will
7.0 allow me to change that column without any other affects on the system?

For anyone that has not upgraded to SQL 7.0........

The entire process of upgrading took about 3 hours. Most of the time was
spent preparing for a disaster, which did not happen, but I felt a lot
better having multiple backups, and etc. While the server was down, I also
upgraded from 256mb to 512mb of memory and installed a Intel PRO/100 Server
adapter. I am sure the 512mb of ram helps and I know the Server adapter
works better as my remote tape back has a better throughput.

The end results is that a consolidation of 670,000 records went from taking
20+ hours to taking a little over 2 hours. And such things as Update Calls
now takes no more than 1-2 minutes instead of 1-2 hours.

So the short of it is, if you have not upgraded to 7.0 then you should do it
ASAP!!
