Since we have moved to Emerald/RadiusNT we've thought about allowing longer
lengths in usernames and passwords... before when we were on UNIX we
limited both to 8 letters, no other characters.
Can we safely allow say up to 12 characters in both and if so what
additional characters, etc. can we allow? Do dashes (-) work?
Are there any characters, digits, etc. we should avoid?
