Sounds like you have some white space or other ascii characters at the
front. Try re-typing the last name and saving the account.

Remember, Emerald does smart saves to the DB, so just loading and
saving the account, doesn't actually re-save any fields. Only if you
go into a field and change it does Emerald re-save that field.
