There is a corrected invocie.rpt that resolves this on the ftp site
in the /emerald/updates directory. If you have customized yours, you
needt to enable the report options "NULL to DEFAULT".

Balance Forward means whether someone will be automatically
invoices again (regardless of whether they paid or not). Emerald
will always include the previous balance for a statement.
