Make sure the data directory in the RadiusNT admin is fully specified.
RadiusNT will look in that directory for the passwd file. You should
see a line with the password the user received, the encrypted password
in the passwd file, and the encrypted password (from the clear text one
the user entered). If you don't see that line, RadiusNT could find the
passwd file.

Hello,

I am trying re upgrade to version 2.5, and decided to do it from scratch,so I installed 2.5.124 and run the radiusnt.sql.When running radadmn and doing ODBC check i get an error from the sql serversaying "invalid object name masterAccounts", and the table exists with acapital M, I know that sql server is case sensitive? So masterAccounts should be with a capital M? or m?and How do I make the radadmn to work?

Best regards,

Ronen

Dale,Still no go. I didn't have the data directory specified, and now I do. Triedit two different ways: c:\radius and c:\radius\. Here's the start up ofradius, and my attempted login (with passwords edited to protect theinnocent, except for the database password: UNIX). Any further thoughts?

ThanksFrank

We just ran the rad25_up2.sql script in preparation for upgrading to Radius2.5. Everything went smoothly except for one problem. Consider thefollowing scenario:

Under one master billing record there are two subaccounts:

Account 1:

Services: Dialup AccountLogin: johndoePassword: password1Email: (blank)

Account 2:

Services: Email OnlyLogin: (blank)Password: differentpasswordEmail: johndoe

This doesn't happen too frequently, but there are several customers whowant the same username, but a different password for login and email. Theproblem is that now, radius only looks at Account 2, and returns an errorabout the Email Only account not having any default radius attributes. This is expected since the Email Only account does not have dialupcapability. However, the fact that it is looking at Account 2, regardlessof the Login field being blank is strange.

Is there some option or setting that I have missed, or have inappropriatelyselected?

Thank you,

If you know the setup is working, just ignore the check. Itsnot required, just a little tool to help find problems. I'll checkthe SQL and correct the cap problem.

Hi,

We have used RadiusNT together with the Merit Radius server to form a proxy radius solution. It works very wellindeed.

I have browsed the list archive but wouldlike to confirm if RadiusNT can supportproxying with the REALM/username as well as username@domainname format. Both formatsare supported by the Merit server.

We are running our POPs and leasing them outto other ISP's and corporate clients. When we grant them access to our service we allocatethen their own DNIS number. Can/Could RadiusNTimplement proxying according to DNIS and eliminate the requirement for a username to include the realm or domainname.

Is this even a good idea ?

Cheers

Mark.

The configuration for this is in the Emerald 2.5 admin. :(

Since it didn't exist when 2.2 was created, there is notsupport for it in the 2.2 admin.

Hello Dale.

I'm using RadiusNT 2.5

We've been running radius in -X15 mode.

About a week ago, we tried to run it as a service and it was a no go. Sowhen we went back to running it in -X15 mode all the configurations withinradius was gone and we had to put them all back in. Since then we've beenseeing the messages below in our log files. The only thing I can could becausing this is some configuration that we missed when reconfiguring radius.

1. Do you know what could be causing these messages below?2. How do I change over to running it as a service? I thought it was assimple as install as a service and start the service.

Thanks.

Alan

We upgraded 7 days ago to RadiusNT 2.5.124. Access DB size was 12 MB +/- aswe cleaned out most prior call records. All was going well until today. When unable to enter clients, the techs checked the db and it was over 1 GBin size. (It didn't grow much over the first few days we watched it) Wentto repair and compact the db, repair failed saying the db had reached amaximum size. Compact failed returning an error, "Radius97 isn't an indexin this table. Look at the indexes collection of the TableDef object todetermine the valied index names." We can no longer open this Radius db.

Just switched to a back-up copy and all is running fine again. Would liketo know why this happened and how, if possible, we could open the db toretrieve calls info.

Please don't say switch to MSQL, my answer is we will, but one thing at atime. ;->

Greetings,

We are attempting to use user-based proxy to forward authenticationrequests to another proxy server. We have set them up in RadRoamDomainsand RadRoamServers, with the correct address and secret (I have includedour exact config below). The server we are trying to proxy for has addedour radius server to his clients file. Tests have been unsuccessful. Ihave included the packet level debug below. I didn't see much in the listarchives, so I apologize if this has been hashed over before.

On another possibly related note, when we first tried 2.5, several tabsappeared in the RadAdmin that allowed entry of records through the GUI. Now that I have installed the newest version, they don't show up, so I haveto make entries manually.

I'm not quite sure what you are referring to here? There is an issuewhereif you go from test to ODBC mode, sometimes you have to save the modeand re-run Radadmn before the ODBC tabs will be displayed. > * I have also tried it with an accounttype specified with the same results.

Thats only for overriding the attributes received from the remote RADIUS server with the set of default attributes associated with thedomain. > radrecv: Request from host ce3a7f2a code=1, id=103, length=86> User-Name = "test@skipnet.com"> Sending proxy request to: skipnet:204.202.84.10:hoohoo:85

We received the requiest and forwarded it to the remote server. > radrecv: Request from host ccca540a code=3, id=103, length=20> > Proxy: Found Matching Proxy request for response (w/o proxy state).> Sending Reject of id 103 to ce3a7f2a (riker)

Here we received a reject from the remote server (code=3) andforward the reject back to the client making the request.

You didn't include the RadRoamServer/RadRoamDomain config forskipnet.com. Is the remote expecting test@skipnet.com orjust test for the username? The stripdomain option wouldreflect this option. Have you had the admin on the other sidecheck to see whats going on?

Hi Dale,

I set up Emerald and had it going well with Radius 2.5 however when I triedto add an Attribute to one of my Default Service Types, I got the followingerror:-

SQL Server Error: 213 Insert error; column name or number of suppliedvalues does not match table definition.State = 4, Severity = 16.

This obliterated the two attributes already in there and now I can't addthose that were already there?

What can I do?
