Thanks for that. Sorry about the HTML.

I already had the "Emerald" option set.

I cleared the logfile fields and from the prompt it now gets to the
"RadiusNT Enterprise Initialized" but still fails when you try to check the
ODBC connection.

I can however now see that authentication info is reaching radiusNT, and it
is trying to insert it into the calls sql table.

Regards, Paul

Make sure ou have clicked on the Options button of the ODBC
configuration
and specified "Emerald" for the database.

Clear the logfile entry in the RadiusNT admin to see everything on
the screen.

Dale,

Is it possible to setup a seperate Access97 databaseto handle just the calls information?

If so, would this increase the stability/efficiencyof RadiusNT?

Or, would it make any difference at all?

I guess I'm afraid of our RadiusNT machine becomingunstable.... due to one large Access97 database.

....too bad there isn't a more efficient way to save accounting information... and still be able to generate report information.

Additionally, it is very frustrating to find out that you must buy MS SQL server (at ~$1,400.00) for RadiusNT to function properly. :(

I believe that you can use the MS SQL Workstation version which issomewhere between $250 and $400.

Howdy; It is definitely the nature of Access97. We had to compact/compress atleast twice a week. The more activity Access has the more it expands. Wealso had loads of problems with ODBC locking up every 30 hours or so.Changed over to SQL, much better :). We only have to dump the logs now andthen. RadiusNT Rules!

Frustrating? Thats like saying you are upset because you boughta 486 to run NT Server and its not giving you the performance youwanted from a $100 machine. You can buy SBS at $1395 that includeslicenses for SQL Server, NT Server, etc. You can also use Sybaseand Oracle (which don't have problems either). Its not a functionalityissue with RadiusNT, its a disfunctional database system that wasn'treally designed to do what you want it to do.

I'm still tracking down the RadNT/SQL Server problem. When I run radius-x15 from the command line and try dialing up with a test user I get thefollowing output...

It looks to me like it is authenticating the user and sending back anaccept message to our portmaster. But on the dialup machine I get the"can't connect" message. Each time I dialup the portmaster tries 10 or 11times, all the trials look just like this.

I can't figure out if the problem is with my Radius configuration, myportmaster, or my dialup computer.

Any ideas?

Yes, they are all responding. What you may want to do is set RadiusNTto run on a specific IP Address in the Admin and see if it correctsthe problem.

Ok. I changed the IP Address setting from All to the IP that RadiusNT isrunning on. I still got the same output. I do not have the port set butI'm surprised it would even communicate with the portmaster if the defaultdidn't work. However, I can put that in the field. What is the default port?

Any other ideas?

Just add a Framed-Address entry for the user in your users files.

You might want to try some debug on the PM side and also test RadiusnTwith Radlogin (see the testing section of the RadiusNT 2.5 docs).

The default port for auth is 1645 and Acct is 1646.
