Dale,

I also used the NAS-Port-Type=ISDN and port limit set to 1.
But this profile connect to an async port. I have set this as a default for
this profile in Emerald Admin/config radius/default
My stupid question now is what the difference between a check attribute and
a reply attribute.

this how it appears in the users file :
Framed-Protocol = 1
NAS-Port-Type = 2
Port-Limit = 1
User-Service = 2

Question..

Does anyone know of anyway to define different radius reply attributes =
for different connections in a multilink bundle. In other words I want =
to be able to set a session timeout only on one link only of a multilink =
PPP bundle.

Can this be done, will Radiusnt support it?

thanks,
Andrew.

If the value is different, the user is rejected. For example, you can set a check attribute of NAS-Port-Type = Async, and prevent the used from loggin on sync/isdn.Check attributes are NOT sent back to the NAS is the accept (reply) list. For example, telling a NAS the NAS-Port-Typeafter the user logs in is pointless (its already established),but telling the NAS how many ports the user can have (Port-Limit)can pevent the user from establihing additional MPP connections. For the users file, check attributes follow the password on thefirst line:user Password = "blah", NAS-Port-Type = Async User-Service = Framed-User Framed-Protoocl = PPP Port-Limit = 1You DO NOT include NAS-Port-Type in the reply list (whih is allattributes after the first line). For a database (RadiusNT 2.5 only), the radcheck field tellsRadiusNT whether the attribute is a check atribute (non zero)or a reply attribute (0).-- Dale E. Where was it hanging (possible on an SQL Statement). One thing that could be causing the problem is something locking a tablefor a short amount of time, which would cause RadiusNT to hang on theSQL connection. And ODBC trace should show some iteresting numbers ifthis is the case.I'd also be interested in seeing if the multi-thread design ofRadiusNT 2.5 would work around the problem. Was it happening withaccounting or auth requests? Next timeit happens cut/paste thefull request and send it to me (radercv to resp line).-- Dale E. Then useSQL Enterprise Manager to transfer the database over to the newmachine. Then just change your ODBC configuraions (and Emerald clientlogins) to point to the new machine. Its actually fairlystraightforwardto do. You can run the rad25_up.sql after you transfer the database andjust install RadiusNT on the new machine. This will give you time totest everything before switching over to production.-- Dale E. The typical one usedis RadATConfigs, which pulls the service default attributes fromRadConfigs table. Now, if you are SQL Savvy, you could ehnace thestored procedure to check time of day and account type and includea different set of attributes. What I was more of less thinkng ofwas adding a start/stop field to the table, then modifying the procwith an additional where clause like: AND( (DatePart(Hour, GetDate()) >= StartHour AND DatePart(Hour, GetDate()) < StopHour OR StartHour = NULL)So for your Filter, you woudl have:Attribute Value StartHour StopHourFramed-Filter "email" 1 18Whereas the rest would have NULL start/stop hour numbers andbe included in both.Sometimes I can come up with the wierdest things! :)-- Dale E. It would be interested to try, though. What you could do to see if it would work if connect thefirst channel, change the Session-Timeout to a low number (like say three minutes) and then connect the second channel. If the secondchannels drops in three minutes, then it is supported. I wouldguess that MOST nases see the ports as a single session, though.-- Dale E. The second part of the trigger must have been missed when theradiusnt.sql file was created.Alternately, you can turn on the Manual Service update to have RadiusNTitself update the subaccounts.CREATE TRIGGER calls_insert ON Calls FOR INSERTAS UPDATE ServerPorts Set sp.UserName = i.UserName, sp.AcctStatusType = i.AcctStatusType, sp.CallDate = DateAdd(Second, 0-i.AcctDelayTime, i.CallDate), sp.FramedAddress = i.FramedAddress FROM Servers s, ServerPorts sp, inserted i WHERE s.IPAddress = i.NASIdentifier AND s.ServerID = sp.ServerID AND sp.Port = i.NASPort AND (DateAdd(Second, 0-i.AcctDelayTime, i.CallDate) >= sp.CallDate OR sp.CallDate IS NULL) UPDATE SubAccounts Set sa.TimeLeft = sa.TimeLeft - (i.AcctSessionTime/60 + 1) FROM SubAccounts sa, inserted i WHERE sa.login = i.UserName and sa.TimeLeft <> NULL and i.AcctStatusType = 2GO> My staging NAS is a Netserver/8i and it does not seem to be recognising the> Session-Timeout attribute I can see RadiusNT sending it at authentication> time.> > It just lets the user stay connected ... any ideas?Check with USR to see if they support that attribute. Actually we have a few USR NetServer 16 V.34 working with Radius 2.2.41 andeverything is fine with IP's being automatically assigned by the NetServer. Now we're trying to put a USR NetServer Plus V.34 to work with these guys butthere are some problems that I can't figure out why they are happening. When I connect through NetServer Plus the call is authenticated only if theFramed-Addres attribute is set in the RadConfigs to the account; If not (wichhas been working perfectly with old NetServers) the connection is dropped and inboth cases no account records are generated in the calls table. I checked the configuration of NetServer Plus a hundred times and could notfind any errors. If someone have successfully configured NetServer Plus please tell me what I'mdoing wrong. Thanks, Einstein Oliveira..------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------.| Message 30 |'------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------'Subject: Re: USR NetServer x USR NetServer PlusFrom: "Dale E.
