RadiusNT does not cache passwords from the database. You'd have
to look at the -x15 debug mode to see how they are getting back
in. You might also look into the active flag, since that doesn't
change the password, but does prevent the user from authenticating.

TIA

We use IMail and run NT servers. We have had several customers complainthat email being sent to them from their freinds are being returned with"Host Unknown". It does not seem to fail all of the time. I'm not sure ifit is an IMail problem, DNS problem, or something else. I have reviewedsome of the returned messages and their email address looks correct. Anyoneelse having this problem? Help!

Does anyone use Framed-MTU & Framed-Compression in the 'users' file forjust standard PPP dial-in clients? I can't imagine why anyone wouldhave Framed-MTU & Framed-Compression different for individual PPPclients (??) If the MTU and Compression is the same for all clients, why have those attributes in the file at all?

Also, what if you do have Framed-Compression=1 (Van Jacobsen TCP/IPheader compression) in the Radius 'users' file and a new NAS you justinstalled does NOT support Framed-Compression for PPP users?Does the NAS get an Access-Accept from Radius with Framed-Compression=1and just ignore it?

Any and all replies are appreciated. Thanks.

Well, some implementations of Van Jacobsen header compression werenotoriously buggy and caused dropped connections and TCP/IP stalls.Conceivably a service might compile a list of users using particularsystems and disable it just for those people using buggyimplementations.

I don't know of anyone doing this, and the buggy implementation Iremember was in the Annex servers, so it's unlikely you would havecustomers using it, but it's conceivable.

If MS. Reno wins her case I think an appropriate punishment would be forGates to have to convert all of the NT computers in the world tomulti-processors using that wretched uptomp.exe from the resource kit!! Ishould have known better after previously hosing a couple of otherinstallations, but being a slow learner I tried again yesterday - sameresult - BSOD and a totally blown installation.

It seems that I finally managed to upgrade before by reinstalling NT, thenthe service pack and hotfixes. If I recall correctly, I had to do somethingduring the installation to cause a screen to appear where I could select thetype of computer I was using. I believe I had to hold down a key, but Ican't remember what or when. Surprise, but a search of the M$ KB yieldedzero. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

Thanks,Steve

All you have to do is make sure the correct kernal is on thedrive. Worst case scenario, you are booting the machine with afloppy, using something like dos2ntfs to get access to the drive, and then correcting the kernel problem.

I always make sure that the boot partition of the machine is a FATpartition of a MPS until I get everything going. I've installedwell over 10 MPS machines in the last year and between manuallyupdating them and using uptomp (with the correct settings, I mightadd) everything has went fine. I've only ran into one situationwhen we swapped motherboard from a single to a dual that we hadany issues to deal with (and that was minimal at most).

If you research a little what you are trying to do and understandit before going at it, you'll be better off in the long run.
