We have a NT4 PDC SP3 with a 4 port Equinox with 3 modems.
1 modem is used to dial into an ISP permanently for a mailserver.
2 modems are used to allow their users to connect and retrieve files and
Exchange server mail.
All IP's are DHCP assigned in the 192.100.1.x range.
The problem is that when the clients (WIN95) dial in they recieve a message
telling them that no domain controller is available to validate your
password.
If we ESC the system continues to log in....but their is no
servers/workstation listed in the Network Neighbourhood.
I can ping the ip and server name but cannot map any drives.
The users can retrieve mail from the Exchange server but we also need to get
files and print to the server.
I am pretty sure that this is a result of WINS/DHCP.
The users have no problem when connected to the network locally only
remotly.
I have tried to add a HOSTS file with the ip address and server name and
also a LMHOSTS file with ip/server/domain on the local machines.
Occasionally it works and the users will run the login script and attach to
the domain but this might happen only 1 out of 10 times.
Any help or advice will be great.
Thanks in advance.
