Subject: Call Consolidation - HELP ME !!!
From: "Andrew Tadros" <atadros@continuum.org>
Date: Tue, 21 Jul 1998 03:28:46 -0400

I have over 200 megs of data just for the Calls triger, but I now need to
disregard data that is more then 3 months old. Can someone please tell me
how. I have looked in the documentation and haven't found any info on this
, other then it takes for ever to do.

I need to know how to run this and where to run this. What script do I
call, or how can I do this within emerald . I am running emerald 2.11.1,
can anyone please help me in this matter.

Another issue that seems to still be present is connections to the SQL
database. After exteneding the ammount of connections to the database from
15 to 60 , I don't get the errors quite as often as I use to, but I still
get the error's just now every 2 weeks or so instead of every 3 days or so.
The error I am receiving is either SQL ERROR, or Invalid Password, and it
is assured the password is entered correctly, after stopping the SQL server
and restarting it, I am fine for another 2 weeks or so.

Another question we have is entering Credit card info into the database,
it only seems to work from one computer in our office. Is there are reason
why no other machine can enter in credit card info. We get a SQL ERROR,
something to the affect cannot connect to the database.

Please can anyone help me.

Without a debug of the problem, I can only guess. Are you seeing errors
in -x15 debug mode? What does the "logfile" in your data directory have
for errors? Have you double checked to see if your serverports are correct
for the NAS?

Hi all,I use emerald 2.2 and would like to send both postal and e-mail invoices tocustomers whose 'send method' is "postal". Is there a way to do that?

Emerald 2.2 only supports one or the other.

Check to make sure the sevrer ports are configured correctly. What kind of NAS is it? What did you configure the ports and servertype for when you created it?

I have written a few messages on this topic and I seem to never get aresponse. This is my last attempt in hopes to have a response to myrequests.

Last Night around 4:00 in the morning, I ran the CALL CONSOLIDATION, Ididn't get any error messages for this , and it said it completed fine. Iam running emerald 2.11.1, I ran the call consolidation from a clientcomputer . From reading over the documentation, the call historyconsolidation was to put info from the calls into a more summerized form. Ihave looked under call history for many accounts and found nothing. My maindatabase consists of emerald.dat for the main account info and a seperatelog file called emerlog.dat for the call triger info. After running thecall consolidation, it doesn't seem to be keeping track of calls. RadiusNT seems to be dumping the info, there is no SQL error, but when I check aaccount that I know has been on and off a few times there is no info onammount of calls or time they have used.

Another issue that seems to still be present is connections to the SQLdatabase. After exteneding the ammount of connections to the database from15 to 60 , I don't get the errors quite as often as I use to, but I stillget the error's just now every 2 weeks or so instead of every 3 days or so.The error I am receiving is either SQL ERROR, or Invalid Password, and itis assured the password is entered correctly, after stopping the SQL serverand restarting it, I am fine for another 2 weeks or so.

Another question we have is entering Credit card info into the database,it only seems to work from one computer in our office. Is there are reasonwhy no other machine can enter in credit card info. We get a SQL ERROR,something to the affect cannot connect to the database.

Please can anyone help me.

I have two problems:

1.Now I have Emerald 2.2 and RadiusNT 2.5 running with five NAS: one Ascend =20==20MAX 4000, one CISCO AS5200 and three CISCO 2509. All of them let users to =20==20login, but only the calls corresponding to the local MAX 4000 are =20displayed in the ON-LINE folder of Emerald. I have configured the ports =20in the following way:

CISCO 2509: from 1 to 8 CISCO AS5200: from 1 to 30

Besides I noticed something that doen't match and may be for your help:

a) On one hand I had to configure the NAS's IP addresses of its WAN port =20==20(200.16.188.x). If I configured those corresponding to the LAN port =20(200.16.186.x) I got, for example, the following error (and no user could =20==20loggin)

> Fri Jul 17 14:39:48 1998: authenticateAcctReq: from 200.16.188.78, ID =20224 > : Request from Unknown Client > Fri Jul 17 14:39:49 1998: Calc_digest: from 200.16.188.66, ID 250 : > Request from Unknown Client > Fri Jul 17 14:39:49 1998: Authenticate: from 200.16.188.66 - Security > Breach: montealegre

b) On the other hand, I noticed that, under the previous configuration, =20the NASIdentifier column of the Calls table was filled out with the IP =20addresses of the LAN ports (I mean 200.16.186.x). These don't match with =20the Server's IP addresses set (200.16.188.x).

Something is going wrong, and I would like to correct it.=202. I tried to perform a consolidation by pressing the Charges button; but I =20==20noticed that it was disabled. May be that up-to-now I have no expired =20MBRs yet. When I clicked the Summary button, the application displayed =20the following message: There is no MBR to invoice, or something like =20that. Which is the problem? Do you know?

Thank you for the support.

Is there a way to run Call Consolidation up to a certain month ,so thatusers could check there hours on a monthly period. For example, I ran CallConsolidation and it has removed all data from the call log database. Whichis fine, but it would have been nice to keep at least 1 month's history ,so that if someone expires on the 20 of the month, they can go back to the20 of the last month to find out if they went over in hours.

Maybe I am not using emerald right, but the ASP page I have for checkinghours , uses the same process that emerald does to check hours for aparticular user, If I was running call consolidation every day, I wouldnot have any call info for that user.

Can someone explain, how they are doing there billing and check for hoursand the whole works.

Andrew

HI

I will try my best to answer your questions.

> Last Night around 4:00 in the morning, I ran the CALL CONSOLIDATION, I>didn't get any error messages for this , and it said it completed fine. I>am running emerald 2.11.1,

This is the problem... 2.1.11 does not do the call consolidation correctly. The data that you hoped would be saved is now gone forever. Dale saysthat 2.2.38 does it right, but don't count on it. It is better to create ascript that will delete the start records, and run it from iSQL.

> Another issue that seems to still be present is connections to the SQL>database. After exteneding the ammount of connections to the database from>15 to 60 , I don't get the errors quite as often as I use to, but I still>get the error's just now every 2 weeks or so instead of every 3 days or so.

How many users and radius machines are you running? 60 should be plenty.

Try alocating more ram to SQL, (I have 8192, but plan on drasticalyincreasing it soon. Set open databases to 20, open objects to 500, locksto 10,000. I have 5 people using Emerald, & 2 radius machines and haveuser connections set to 45 with NO problems.

> Another question we have is entering Credit card info into the database,>it only seems to work from one computer in our office.

Make sure that when you enter the cc number that you do NOT select the cardtype, let Emerald figure it out by itself. The card types in the pull downbox are incorrect.

>Please can anyone help me.

This isn't much, but I hope it helps...

HI

I answered your previous message.

Emerald 2.1.11 lost all your data. You can regularaly delete all the startrecords and still keep the data, forever (if your hard drive is big enough).

Yes. Emerald 2.2 will let you incrementally do the calls consolidation.Just don't ever do one lower than two and you should have what you want.

Using 2.2, it will only consolidate completed cycles. 2.1 consolidatedeverything.

The easiest way to work around this is to add two servers for each NAS.One with the WAN IP address and one with the LAN IP address. One willbe used for authentication requests (the secret/ip) and the other will beused for the time-on stuff. > 2.> I tried to perform a consolidation by pressing the Charges button; but I> noticed that it was disabled. You have to do the summary before you can do the charges. What isthe exact message that it gives you?
