We have confirmation from US West engineers that they are having trunking
problems. This is due to not properly planning for future expansion. As a
result, when they add new prefixes, they are forced to route numbers
through trunks in different cities. In our case, it has caused "direct
interference" that doesn't allow any of our customers in the whole prefix
to dial into our system. From the sound of things, ours is not the only
area. We have been told that 75 new and replacement trunks are scheduled
for installation in the next month or two.

Look to see if there is a common pattern such as this among the customers
that are having difficulty dialing in. For us, it started around
Christmas.
