YMMV, but after running into this problem many times, I found via
trial & error
that choosing US Robotics Courier V.Everything as the modem will make
it work
fine... This has worked for me on everything from crummy_modems to
fancy new 56K modems
for which there are no dos drivers period.
Out of curiosity, has anyone tried the IE 4.0 for Win 3.x yet to
see if it detects
modems any better? I don't think it could be any worse... :)
