Not quite sure if it's an NT, Max, or 95 problem. Last thing I'd suspect
is Radius.

Okay, I upgraded my MAX to 5.0Ap10. That was the latest patch I could
find. I still have long delays in logging in. I am pretty sure the
additional delay (normally 30 seconds) comes AFTER the MAX has sent the
request to my RadiusNT server and RadiusNT has done its deal. The reason I
say this is because I dial in from one box, switch over to my RadiusNT
server, see the authentication and accounting packets, start my stopwatch,
and the other system finally connects 30 seconds later.
There must be an attribute I have set incorrectly in the MAX as best I can
figure.
Help!

Mark,
Which version of software are you using on the MAX? Apparently, Ascend
fixed the problem that caused this in version 5.0Ap8 and higher...

Subject: Long Authentification Delay Time
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else has in the past, or currently does, =
experience extended authentication periods running Emerald with RadiusNT =
is ODBC only mode. In other words, when I have a user dial-in, the =
modem on my MAX connects immediately, but, it can take up to a minute to =
verify the user name and password. This is happening when this is next =
to no traffic on the network. That sure seems to be a long time to me! =
Especially when I have the MAX connected through a 10bastT switch =
instead of a hub. The switch then connects to the server via a =
100baseTX hub.
Any suggestions?
