Page 33:
Using PPTP over the LAN to connect to a PPTP server

So you can see that it is quite useful and meant to be used this way as
well as over a Dialin link.

When use PPTP over a LAN, you are creating a VPN to the server you are
connecting to, which gives you a secure (Encrypted) connection bewteen
the client and the host.

A perfect solution for either on the road or remote work..
