On the MSNEWS.MICROSOFT.COM news server there is a group for IEAK.
There is a *.REG file to run as a custom script during IEAK installation to fix it.

You can't. This is a known bug with IEAK. It has been there for some
time. I have been told that it will not be fixed until 4.0. Wish I had
better news, because it sure bugs the crap out of me.
