NT4 SPs in Toshiba 7160

Hello :)
I have a friend who has a Toshiba 7160 PC that he has installed NT 4
on. It works fine, but whenever he tries to put on a service pack SP2 or
SP3, it will always seemingly corrupt an important system file like
gdi32.dll, kernel32.dll, etc. Upon the reboot it will BSOD on one of those
files, and it's a *different* file each time.
Anybody ever seen this before on a different platform, or had the
same experience on the Toshiba? The only thing on those PCs that is not
supported under NT4 are the USB ports, but I don't think that would cause
problems with the SPs...

TIA,

Kendrick
