The easiest way to do this is to:

1. Install a WINS server and make sure all clients and servers are
pointing to it.

2. Make sure the client dialing in is loggin in as a username in
the server's domain or local user database. This will allow you
to make a named pipes connection.

You can also instal TCP/IP on the SQL Server and use the client
configuration utility in the SQL Server group to create an entry
for your SQL Server and use that entry.
