radius runs better with flat file or ODBC

We have been struggling to get radius to run using the flat file setup.
Does radius work better using the Access or SQL database? I would imagine
that the flat file would be easier to run and make stable. Currently,
radius will crash and cause doctor watson errors (access violations )

We are using a Computone Intelliserver which is pointing to a main radius
server and a secondary backup radius server.

Appreciate any help in this matter.
