Help with AOL connection through a Local Provider

We have customers that don't want to pay long distance to use AOL because
AOL doesn't have local dial-up in our area. We have been told that if the
customer is using our dial-up they can connect to AOL through TCP/IP. Well
they seem to be able to sign on but once they get signed on it does
absolutely nothing till it times out and says goodbye from AOL. This seems
to be a problem with every Windows 3.x machine we try to setup with AOL on
our dial-up. I have noticed that every time we do this with a Win95 machine
and login it wants to update AOL software, is it trying to do this on Win
3.x and having a problem? America Online Tech Support seems to be only
knowledgable for the average dial-up user and told me this was over his
head technically.
By the way we are using the latest Internet Explorer Dialer to connect.

Anyone Help me out here please?
