The other thing it could be is a permission problem on the Mac Volume
itself (volumes can be set to read-only).

Go to "Admin Tools" => Server Manager => MacFile menu => Volumes =>
Properties => Permissions

You will probably notice that the "This volume is read-only" checkbox is
on.
