If you *never* use the shell field, you could always set a quick scheduled
task on your SQL box. Something like...

UPDATE SubAccounts
SET Shell = NULL
WHERE Shell Is Not Null

....and schedule it to run nightly.

Shell will probably be going away. You can file an RFE with support
on it.
