You can open up the file using WinZip, then extract "Emerald.ex_". Then at
a command prompt (NT), type:
expand emerald.ex_ emerald.exe
Take the "emerald.exe" file and drop it in your Emerald directory
(overwriting whatever one is there).
That's all that needs to be done in this situation.
