I think that this is how Servu currently works. If there is no entry in the
directory, then they have no FTP access... More specifically, if they login,
they get "Directory not found".

This biggest problem is that Emerald has no way to sync and kill deleted
accounts. This has to be done manually and is generally one great big pain.

Subject: [Emerald] Serv-U

We are setting up ServU with Emerald, but are not planning to create
directories for every user by default. Is there a way to alter the action of
the "directory" field in a new service so that if it's left blank it does
NOT create a directory, thus only creating a directory if its filled in?
I think the easiest way to handle this would be like the "shell" field,
where a Capitalized Login fills in the field automatically.

I raise this because we are migrating from a Unix based personal webserver
that was creating directories automatically. Even with only 1000 accounts on
the old machine it would literally take days to sort through each to find
the active ones (maybe 10%, if even that). This is more for future planning,
so that this wouldnt be the case and only directories that are active would
be created.

Any info on how to selectively craete the directories would help, as it
beats the alternative of manually getting them in thru ServU
