Every since we have switched from SQL 6.5 to SQL 7 we have not been able to
login with Emerald from a dial-up session.

Here is the situation we have.
Here is some additional input from my boss - We are still unable to access
Emerald remotely.

When using Emerald on our LAN (on a laptop) it works fine.

When dialing into our Portmasters it immediately says login failed. The
debug mode has no results when activated.

However, I can login using SQL Manger, or query analyzer. We also have a
companion application built in access that connects to the Emerald database
using the same DSN and calls the same DSN. It is able to login without any
problems. This occurs even with logging with SA.

We can reproduce this on another machine that is a desktop.

We have loaded the most recent version of the Data Objects and odbc format
he Microsoft site.

Can Dale, someone from support, or anyone give me an idea why this is. I
have an employee the telecommutes and this had made the process impossible.
It seems to me it has something in the Emerald Compiled code when it calls
the DSN that is different or it introduces something else. This is a

Remeber, Emerald DOES NOT use ODBC. Double check the server and
information that you give Emerald during the login. If the ODBC
configuration is working, then Emerald should be fine as well. You may
need to configure a TCP/IP transport to use if named pipes does not
work for you.
